Observatorio Atelier funciona como un centro de arte contemporáneo , que busca combinar tres conceptos clave: habitar, crear y exhibir. Ubicado en el histórico barrio de La Boca en Buenos Aires, este espacio multifuncional combina una rica herencia cultural con innovadoras búsquedas artísticas contemporáneas.
El espacio de 100 metros cuadrados, situado en un edificio Art Nouveau de 1913 diseñado por el arquitecto francés Alfred Massüe, ha tenido diversos usos a lo largo de los años. Funcionó como cabina de proyección para el legendario Cine Kalisay y, posteriormente, como estudio del artista Alonso Casellas, fundador del Instituto de Arte de La Boca y el Teatro Arlequín. Observatorio Atelier conserva también el archivo gráfico de Alonso Casellas y ofrece este valioso recurso para la investigación y la inspiración.
Coordinado por el artista chileno Pablo Vera Solari y la historiadora del arte belga Helene Vandenberghe, Observatorio Atelier se esfuerza por preservar e integrar las tradiciones artísticas, pedagógicas y teatrales de su pasado en su papel actual como un espacio dinámico de proyectos y residencias. Aquí, la libertad de creación, investigación y experimentación es primordial. Los proyectos se realizan inspirados por el espacio y el entorno del barrio, libres de formas o reglas fijas, priorizando un enfoque intuitivo y experimental de la creación.
Desde 2020, el proyecto ha organizado más de veinte exposiciones y ha recibido el apoyo del Ministerio de Cultura de Buenos Aires, contribuyendo así al florecimiento del Distrito de las Artes.

The 100-square-meter space, housed in an Art Nouveau building from 1913 designed by French architect Alfred Massüe, has served various purposes over the years. It functioned as a projection booth for the legendary Cine Kalisay and later as the studio of artist Alonso Casellas, founder of the Instituto de Arte de La Boca and the Teatro Arlequín. The atelier also preserves the archive of Alonso Casellas, offering a valuable resource for research and inspiration.
Coordinated by Chilean artist Pablo Vera Solari and Belgian art historian Helene Vandenberghe, Observatorio Atelier strives to preserve and integrate the artistic, pedagogical, and theatrical traditions of its past into its current role as a dynamic project space and residence. Here, freedom of creation, research, and experimentation are paramount. Projects are realized inspired by the space and the surrounding neighborhood, free from fixed forms or rules, resulting in an intuitive and experimental approach to creation.
Emphasizing dialogue and interaction with both the physical space and the La Boca neighborhood, Observatorio Atelier has established itself as a significant art center. Since 2020, the project has organized more than twenty exhibitions, supported by the Ministry of Culture of Buenos Aires, contributing to the flourishing of the artistic district.
